Exclusive | Recognition of Palestine a 'new show' by France and UK, says Bulgarian analyst

A Bulgarian analyst says the announcement by France and Britain that they will recognize Palestinian statehood is merely a show and part of their failed geopolitical game.

According to Saednews, In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Stanislav Bachev, who holds a PhD in political sciences, said that, in genera,l recognizing Palestine is a right move and a step in the direction of justice, though overdue in light of Israel’s genocidal actions against Palestinians over the past two years.

The full text of the interview is as follows:

1-What is your view on the increasing number of European countries that intend to recognize Palestine?

It is a right and just intention, but it is a highly late one, considering the last 2 years of conducted genocide by Israel. It leaves the impression that the intention is forced by circumstances rather than by justice. The intention of recognizing Palestine, which is already razed to the ground and thousands of civilians have been murdered, looks like a part of a failed geopolitical game of Western European countries like France and the UK, and an attempt to show they have their own face and position different than the position of the USA and Israel. It also bears a big contradiction – the same Western European countries that on the surface oppose Israel and the Trump administration, which is strongly, crucially dependent on Israel’s policy, plan to further sanction Iran, which is the victim of the same Israeli aggression.

Another perspective should be taken into account – the growing Muslim population in France and the UK, which is already changing their demographic, ethnic, and religious structure and is going to crucially change it in the future. The current problem of the whole Muslim world is that it is not united behind the cause of Palestine or any other possible major common cause, despite the branch divisions in Islam. It is worth noting that Israel needs a divided Muslim world, especially in the Middle East. Western Europe is reaping what it has been sowing for many years.

2-Considering the historical experiences and the following of Europe from American policies, can the actions of European countries be assessed as an independent action in the direction of establishing peace?

We can ask the rhetorical question, are independent actions and policies possible considering the following unavoidable constant circumstances:

- The huge US military presence in the territory of the EU states. It is worth mentioning the military bases and infrastructure in Germany, Italy, the UK, Spain, the strategic active development of the infrastructure in the Balkan corridor – Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, etc.
- The recently signed trade and tariffs deal between the US and the EU is highly negative for the European states and benefits only the American interest.
- The alleged dislocation of American nuclear weapons, namely the B61 bombs, on the territory of the UK.

The overall conclusion is that the EU is not an independent geopolitical player. These intentions are a theatrical attempt to show face and free will. The US under Trump is not leaving Europe, but on the contrary, it is strengthening its grip through economic and financial pressure. The EU is a needed tool and territory in the global geopolitical clash.

The indivisibility of the fronts is my thesis, which states that this undeclared world war consists of two active fronts (and a third one, which is currently dormant or hybrid) – the European (Ukrainian) and the Iranian (Middle Eastern), which cannot be separated in their resolution. These two fronts are equivalent to control over the Eurasian continent plus Africa. The two fronts are personified by specific countries – one by Russia, the other by Iran. In recent years, these two countries, together with China, have managed to form and solidify a coalition out of necessity.

The indivisibility of the fronts means that the resolution of only one front does not provide long-term stability. Therefore, a new world order cannot be built without ensuring long-term sustainability. Long-term sustainability is a mandatory condition for establishing a new model of global existence in politics, economics, and finance.

The establishment of a new cultural order is a long-term process, resulting from the inevitable mixing brought by globalization and the possibility of outgrowing and rejecting the Western civilizational model. The signs of this necessity lie not only in the fundamental geopolitical shift, but also in the fact that we are currently living with the perception of the Western civilizational model at its peak – a peak that has long passed.

At present, the US is producing cultural decline and waste. And yet, at this historical moment, the establishment of a new cultural and civilizational order is impossible, despite the desires of extreme positions. The Palestinian issue and the two-state solution are only possible as a part of the overall geopolitical process and by resolving both of the big fronts, and the EU is not a factor in that process; it is a spectator.
