SAEDNEWS: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has called on Iranians to preserve their national unity, saying it prevents the enemy from waging another act of aggression against the country.
Qalibaf made the remarks during an open parliamentary session on Sunday, as the recent Israeli-US assault against the Islamic Republic reinforced a shared sense of national identity among the Iranian people despite different political inclinations.
“The enemy suffered a major blow from the Iranian people during the imposed 12-day war. The biggest factor preventing the enemy from another encroachment on our beloved Iran is the national unity that the world witnessed,” he said.
“Undoubtedly, the greatest duty of every Iranian is to preserve this unity, whose prerequisite is to recognize Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei] as the decisive authority and a reassuring source of support.”
He also noted that the enemy suffered its greatest defeat at the hands of the Iranian nation and that it was slapped in the face during last month’s aggression.
He added that the strategy of growing stronger in various fields compels the enemy to respond to the legitimate demands of the Iranian people instead of pursuing imposed peace or imposed war.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
More than a week later, the United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the illegal assault.
‘Israel seeks to disintegrate Muslim states’
Referring to Israel’s brutal strikes on Damascus, Qalibaf said the regime seeks to destabilize, disarm, and disintegrate the Muslim countries in order to expand its own occupied territory.
Tehran always stands by the Syrian people and defends the Arab country’s unity and territorial integrity, he emphasized.
“The Zionist regime is the enemy of any kind of peace, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity throughout the region and the only language it understands is the language of force.”
Also in his remarks, the Iranian parliament speaker hailed a recent decision by The Hague Group to impose an arms embargo on Israel.
He said the “courageous” move could turn into a practical model for effectively confronting the usurping entity.
