SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the US and Israeli aggression against Iran, describing it as a violation of international law and a severe setback to diplomatic efforts.
According to Saednews, In a phone call with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil on Wednesday, Araghchi called the attacks a breach of the UN Charter and a threat to regional and global security.
“The illegal US-Israeli strikes, conducted during indirect Iran-US negotiations, dealt a fatal blow to diplomacy,” Araghchi said, noting that the attacks exposed divisions among Israel’s supporters.
He praised Venezuela’s firm condemnation of the aggression and expressed gratitude for their solidarity.
Araghchi emphasized that the attacks, which violated Iran’s sovereignty, endangered global peace and highlighted the hypocrisy of Israel’s backers. He urged the UN Security Council and the international community to hold the aggressors accountable.
Reaffirming Iran’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, Araghchi highlighted the Iranian Armed Forces’ readiness to counter any further aggression, as demonstrated during their 12-day defense operation.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil reiterated his country’s condemnation of the US-Israeli attacks, expressing condolences to Iran’s government and people.
“Venezuela has condemned these illegal actions in international forums and will always stand by Iran,” Gil said, stressing the need to prevent future violations of international law.
In a separate call with South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola, Araghchi commended South Africa’s condemnation of Israel’s aggression.
He attributed such hostility to the impunity granted to Israel and held its supporters accountable for its actions.
On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iran, assassinating senior military commanders and nuclear scientists before targeting nuclear, military, and residential sites.
Iran retaliated with Operation True Promise III, launching over 500 ballistic missiles and 1,100 drones, killing 28 and injuring 5,000 in Israeli-occupied territories.
On June 22, the US joined Israel in bombing three Iranian nuclear sites, violating the UN Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The 12-day war ended last week with a US-brokered unilateral ceasefire after Israel suffered significant losses.
