SAEDNEWS: Seyed Ali Mousavi, Iran’s Ambassador to the IMO, in a letter to the organization’s Secretary-General, called for an official condemnation of the assassination of an Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization employee, martyred along with his family in the recent Zionist regime attack.
According to Saednews, in a letter to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Seyed Ali Mousavi, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the IMO, condemned the July 3 missile strike on the home of Iranian seafarer Hamed Saber as a cowardly and terrorist act. He stated:
“In the middle of the night, a deliberate and targeted missile attack struck a residential home in the quiet town of Astaneh Ashrafieh, far from any military or nuclear site. In this brutal assault, twelve innocent civilians were martyred in their sleep.”
Among the victims, he noted, was Mr. Hamed Saber, a respected former senior officer and member of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization, known for his dedication to seafarer training and welfare.
“He was martyred alongside his 7-year-old son, wife, elderly parents, sister, niece, brother-in-law, and several other family members. This was not collateral damage—it was the targeted assassination of an entire civilian family.”
Mousavi stressed that this attack exemplifies Israel’s ongoing policy of deliberately targeting civilians, consistent with its actions in Gaza. He called it a grave violation of international law and humanitarian norms.
Expressing deep concern over the recurrence of such attacks against defenseless civilians, he warned that:
“Even more alarming is that such acts occur with the support of certain countries, enabling Israel’s impunity and putting the lives of seafarers and their families at risk far from conflict zones.”
He called the attack a threat to global peace and security and a blatant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and fundamental human rights.
In conclusion, Mousavi formally requested that the IMO officially condemn the assassination of the Iranian seafarer. He honored the memory of Hamed Saber and his family and expressed hope that:
“Justice will be served against the perpetrators and sponsors of such inhumane acts.”
Saednews adds that Martyr Hamed Saber was a well-regarded staff member of the Ports and Maritime Organization in Hormozgan Province and was killed alongside his family in a Zionist regime airstrike on Astaneh Ashrafieh, northern Iran.
