Atwan: Ayatollah Khamenei Has Always Spoken the Truth

According to SAEDNEWS, renowned Arab analyst and editor-in-chief of the Rai al-Youm newspaper, Abdul Bari Atwan, wrote in an editorial:

“Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is the political and spiritual symbol of the Islamic Republic of Iran and holds the final say on all matters concerning the country. His presence signifies the failure of any scenario aimed at regime change or the rise of a new leadership based on U.S. and Israeli standards.”

Atwan wrote that the most significant statement in Ayatollah Khamenei’s recent speech was his emphasis that ‘the U.S. aggression achieved nothing and its strikes on three nuclear sites had no significant impact.’

According to the prominent Arab analyst, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that “Trump exaggerated the outcomes of the U.S. attacks, while Washington suffered a severe blow.” He vowed that Iran would not surrender to the United States, and any new American aggression would be met with missile attacks targeting U.S. military bases in the region.

Atwan added:
“By observing and listening to the speeches of Iran’s Supreme Leader over several decades, we can say that what he always says is the truth. This man does not lie. When he threatens, he keeps his word—and he did just that. Before the U.S. assault, he had warned that Iran was fully prepared to respond and strike American and Israeli enemies in their own homes and bases. That is exactly what happened. We witnessed Iranian ballistic missiles bypass all missile defense systems and reach their targets in the heart of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Be’er Sheva, Safed, Ashkelon, and Ashdod.”

He added that the emphasis in Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech on the exaggerated effect of the U.S. strikes on the three nuclear sites is supported by classified U.S. intelligence documents that were ‘deliberately’ leaked to CNN.

“These documents confirmed that only minor damage was inflicted on Iran’s nuclear facilities, delaying their operations for just a few months, not years as President Trump claimed,” Atwan noted.
“Perhaps Trump’s erratic behavior and disgraceful attacks on CNN lend credibility to these leaks. What will truly take years to recover is the complete destruction of the occupied Palestinian cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, and the shattered morale of the Israeli settlers who spent more than 12 consecutive days and nights in shelters and subway tunnels.”

Atwan continued in his article:
“Moreover, seven air and ground missile defense systems failed to intercept the Iranian missiles before they hit their targets. The regime could not protect its settlers, cities, intelligence centers, or research institutions such as the Weizmann Institute.”

He questioned:
“If Trump’s claim of completely destroying the three nuclear sites is true, and if Iranian authorities were unable to remove enriched uranium from these facilities beforehand, then why is Trump still urging Iran to return to nuclear negotiations? The same negotiations which in all five previous rounds focused on halting enrichment operations and confiscating over 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to above 60%, stored at these or other secure sites?”

“The complete destruction of these sites—if true—would mean the core of the crisis is gone and the nuclear threat from Iran would be eliminated for decades, if not forever. ‘A madman speaks, but the wise listen!’”

The prominent Arab analyst concluded:
“We agree with Mr. Khamenei’s statement that Iran emerged victorious from this war. All claims by Israel and the U.S. of a historic victory are nothing but lies and worthless, naïve propaganda aimed at concealing their failure and defeat.”

“When we say that Netanyahu and Trump are the two most deceitful men in modern history, it is hardly news. There are dozens of examples confirming this reality, far too many to list here. When I see the scale of destruction in the heart of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Be’er Sheva, and how they’ve become ghost towns, and when I read and watch news confirming that hundreds of thousands of Israelis—according to Israel’s Health Ministry—have turned to psychiatrists and are struggling to find shelter after losing their homes and apartments, and more importantly, that many have tried to flee by sea toward Cyprus, paying $20,000 to anyone who could offer a means of escape, I realize who the true loser and the real victor of this war—and perhaps of future wars—is. Time will reveal everything.”
