According to the political service of Saed News Analytical News Agency, Alireza Zakani was born on March 2, 1966, in Tehran. On August 8, 2021, he was elected Mayor of Tehran by the City Council and officially began his duties on September 2, 2021.
Alireza Zakani participated in the Iran–Iraq war from a young age and is a 50% war-disabled veteran. He has a record of sixty-two months of voluntary presence on the frontlines. The issue with his hand is a result of injuries sustained during the war. At the time of Iraq’s attack on Iran, Zakani was 15 years old, and according to information shared on social media, he was injured in the third year of the war in his hand, leg, and neck.
