The woman who killed and dismembered her husband spoke during the court session about the bitter days of her life that ultimately turned her into a killer.
According to Etemad Online, the woman, accused of murdering and mutilating her husband’s body, told the court she never loved her husband and had been forced into the marriage despite his addiction.

One restaurant worker told police: “I went to the riverside to take photos and saw the bloody sack, so I reported it.”
The dismembered remains were sent to the coroner. A few days later, fingerprints identified the body as a man named Behrad. Officers contacted his family, but his parents said they hadn’t heard from him in years.
Behrad’s brother said: “A few days ago, Afsaneh, my brother’s wife, called and said Behrad had gone out in search of treasure and never came back. I told her maybe he went to rehab and not to worry. But then we were informed that his body had been found.”
When questioned, Afsaneh said her husband claimed he had found treasure and left for that reason. When he didn’t return, she became worried and informed his brother.
Asked why her husband hadn’t taken his phone with him, she responded, “Behrad said if he took his phone, the police would trace him.”
Investigators learned Behrad had been addicted for years and often clashed with his wife and family over it. Due to Afsaneh’s contradictory statements, she was arrested. During questioning, she confessed to the murder, saying: “Behrad was addicted to drugs. We constantly fought over it. That day, after he used drugs at home, I got angry and killed him. I then dismembered his body to be able to remove it from the house.”
After the investigation concluded and an indictment was issued, the case was sent to the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court. During the trial, the victim’s parents demanded retribution and said they were also seeking justice on behalf of their grandchildren. The victim’s mother said, “We hadn’t seen our son in years because his wife wouldn’t allow it. Then we suddenly faced his dead body. This woman deserves death.”
When it was Afsaneh’s turn to speak, she admitted to the crime but claimed she hadn’t intended to kill her husband and that it was an accident.
The Day of the Murder – In the Killer’s Words
She said: “When I was a small child, my mother died. My father remarried, and to be rid of me and live peacefully with his new wife, he sent me to live with my grandmother. I stayed with her until my teenage years, but later she could no longer care for me and asked me to marry Behrad. I never wanted to marry him. I didn’t love him. Even though my life was difficult, I managed to study up to a bachelor’s degree and pursue professional sports. Still, I thought I was a burden on my grandmother and had to leave her house. So I agreed to marry Behrad.”
She continued: “We had two children—a daughter and a son—but our life was filled with pain. Behrad used drugs—especially meth—and would torment us. I constantly fought with him. On the day of the incident, he went to the bathroom to use drugs. My young son saw him and got scared. I confronted Behrad, and a fight broke out. He threatened to kill me, saying he’d do it that very night. He tried to grab a pair of scissors from the table to attack me. To defend myself, I wrapped my coat belt around his neck and pulled it tight to keep him from reaching the scissors. He struggled and tried to reach them, but I kept holding the belt until he went limp. I thought he had just passed out. The next morning, when I woke up, I realized he was dead. I dropped the kids off at school, then returned home. The body was too heavy to move, so I dismembered it to carry it out.”
She concluded: “I didn’t intend to kill him. I just didn’t want my children to suffer the same fate as him, or for him to keep using drugs in the house. We didn’t love each other, but I truly didn’t mean to kill him.”
After her statement and the defense lawyer’s remarks, the judges entered deliberation.
