SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied reports of a recent conversation with Steve Witkoff, a special envoy to US President Donald Trump, saying messages between Tehran and Washington are exchanged indirectly or directly when necessary.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi clarified to Tasnim News Agency that claims by some Western media suggesting a direct conversation with US businessman Witkoff were false.
Araqchi emphasized that no direct contact or negotiation has taken place between Iran and the United States, dismissing earlier reports that suggested talks on September 16 and proposals for immediate temporary deals.
He explained that communications with foreign parties are either via intermediaries or conducted without them, depending on circumstances, reaffirming Tehran’s cautious approach to dialogue while maintaining its official stance on diplomacy.
This statement comes amid heightened speculation about Iran-US engagement, signaling Tehran’s insistence on clarity and control over information flow in sensitive negotiations.
