SAEDNEWS: Major General Amir Hatami said Iran needs to become more powerful militarily to be able to defend the nation against bullying powers.
The chief commander of the Army says Iran has no option but to strengthen its military power to safeguard national security and independence, amid growing regional and global threats.
Major General Amir Hatami said in a ceremony on Wednesday that the Iranian Army carries the “great mission” of defending the nation’s independence, territorial integrity, and the Islamic Republic’s system of governance. He added that this mission is particularly crucial given Iran’s strategic and geopolitical position.
“We live in a region where an occupying regime exists whose doctrine is that no country should be stronger than itself. And in a world where those who claim power seek ‘peace through strength,’ which in practice means unconditional submission,” Hatami said in an apparent reference to Israel’s threats to regional security and recent remarks by US President Donald Trump when he tried to justify his use of force against Iran.
He reiterated that under such circumstances, “We have no path but to become stronger and more powerful.
