Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, says the Islamic Republic is prepared to eradicate terrorism and secure its borders with Pakistan
Major General Mousavi expressed readiness in a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on Tuesday.
He pointed to the growing cross-border movements of terrorist groups and called for joint efforts to eradicate terrorism.
While expressing sympathy with the flood-affected people across the border, the top general stated, “Iran would proudly provide any assistance within its power to dear brothers in Pakistan.”
Mousavi also expressed satisfaction over bilateral ties, saying both Iran and Pakistan have been interacting and cooperating at various levels. He particularly commended Pakistan’s stance and support for Iran during the 12-day Israeli-imposed war.
In turn, Field Marshal Munir expressed his gratitude for Mousavi’s sympathy for the Pakistani nation and expressed his condolences for the families of the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Munir also echoed the call for securing the common borders, saying that two sides must jointly turn the Pakistan-Iran border into a border of friendship, brotherhood, and economic development.
