SAEDNEWS: Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expressed concern over the killing of five journalists in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, emphasizing the need to guarantee their safety and ensure press freedom.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on Monday, expressed concern over the death of five journalists in the recent Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, stating that journalists must be able to perform their professional duties freely and safely.
According to Tajani, “We have previously, along with many other countries, approved a document regarding media activities in Gaza. Our position on press freedom has not changed. We believe that the safety of journalists must be guaranteed and that they should be able to continue their work in the Gaza Strip.”
International efforts to break the Gaza blockade
In an Israeli airstrike on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, 20 people, including five journalists and one firefighter, were killed. The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that the Israeli army targeted the fourth floor of one of the buildings in two separate airstrikes.
Palestinian official television reported that “Hossam Al-Masri,” a cameraman for Al Jazeera, and “Mohammad Salameh” were among those killed.
