Gaza Health Ministry: 12,000 People Require Treatment Abroad

Munir Al-Bursh, Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, said that less than five percent of the ministry’s needs have been met in recent days, and that 12,000 people require medical treatment outside the besieged territory.

In an interview with Al Jazeera on Sunday, Al-Bursh said the situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating by the moment, with the area moving from a state of hunger to an engineered famine.

He noted that the water available in refugee shelters is unsafe for drinking and that the Gaza Strip’s healthcare system has completely collapsed.

Al-Bursh added that 11 people have died from hunger in the past 24 hours alone, calling it a dangerous warning sign.

He stressed that the ongoing famine will only end with the establishment of a ceasefire and the reopening of border crossings.
