SAEDNEWS: The Scottish government issued a statement on Monday and suspended all its meetings with the Israeli officials.
According to SAEDNEWS, The Scottish government took a significant step on Monday by suspending all meetings with Israeli officials, a decision driven by the ongoing conflict and the humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinians in Gaza.
In an interview with KHABAR ONLINE, Hadi Borhani explained that the ban was implemented in response to the "continuation of the genocidal war and the killing of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli forces." He emphasized that the suspension will remain in effect until meaningful progress is made in ceasefire negotiations, including ensuring unhindered access to humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza and full cooperation from Tel Aviv in international investigations regarding genocide and war crimes.
Borhani posited that this humanitarian decision by the Scottish government could inspire similar actions in other European countries, particularly those that prioritize human rights, such as Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. He believes this could spark a new wave of opposition against the Israeli regime across Europe and other Western nations.
“The pressure of this wave can have a decisive effect on the ceasefire process in Gaza and also on the meeting of Palestinian rights in the relevant truce talks,” he stated.
He lamented the current state of ceasefire negotiations, highlighting that instead of adopting a fair stance, the United States has sided with the Israeli regime and influenced ceasefire discussions in a manner that contradicts President Biden’s initial proposals. Borhani noted that the U.S. has pressured the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, to accept terms from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's extremist government.
As the ceasefire talks aim for finalization by the end of this week, Borhani asserted that Palestinians urgently need international support to secure their rights. He urged that Scotland's actions to back Hamas and apply pressure on Israel could significantly bolster the Palestinian position in the ongoing negotiations.
He called on Muslim governments, especially those with ties to Israel, to follow suit by suspending relations and meetings with Israeli representatives until the Biden administration’s plan and the relevant UN Security Council resolution are accepted by Israel, as well as a restoration of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Borhani concluded that the Scottish government's decision exemplifies the possibility of supporting the Palestinian cause, even amid U.S. pressures. He stressed that such actions, particularly during the ongoing critical ceasefire talks, could provide significant assistance to the Palestinians and their inalienable rights.
