SAEDNEWS: The new Iranian President has told French President Emmanuel Macron that the US and Western countries must immediately stop giving weapons to the Israeli regime if they seek peace and security in the region.
According to SAEDNEWS, On Wednesday, a significant conversation took place between Masoud Pezeshkian and French President Emmanuel Macron, who voiced his concerns regarding the escalating tension in the Middle East following the assassination of a prominent Hamas political leader. Macron urged Iran to exercise restraint in this delicate situation.
In response, Pezeshkian underscored the gravity of the situation, asserting that the assassination of Haniyeh—who was in Iran as an official guest—was a deliberate act by the Zionist regime of Israel, aimed at exacerbating conflict in an already volatile region.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the avoidance of war and the effort to establish global peace and security as its fundamental principles. However, within the framework of treaties and international laws, it will never remain silent in the face of violations against its interests and security,” he firmly told Macron.
Pezeshkian did not hold back in addressing the role of Western nations in this crisis, stating that the United States and its allies have, instead of condemning the Israeli regime's actions, supported it in perpetrating crimes, genocide, and terrorism.
He emphasized Iran's position as a key player in fostering “peace, stability, and security” in the region and worldwide. However, he made it clear that Iran reserves the right to respond appropriately to acts of aggression from the Israeli regime.
“The United States and Western countries support a regime that adheres to none of the international laws and regulations, and has not refrained from any criminal actions in the region with adopting a contradictory and dual approach,” he said, highlighting the hypocrisy in international relations.
Pezeshkian criticized Western nations for their contradictory stance, as they call on countries affected by terrorism to remain passive and exercise restraint in the face of aggression.
He went further to state that if the U.S. and Western countries genuinely seek to prevent war and instability in the region, they must act immediately. This includes halting arms sales, withdrawing support for the Zionist regime, and compelling it to cease its genocidal actions against the people of Gaza and accept a ceasefire.
He warned that as long as the Zionist regime continues its campaign of terror and violence, with the backing of Western countries, true stability, security, and peace would remain elusive for the region and the world.
