SAEDNEWS: By snatching a bronze medal, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Amin Mirzazadeh grabbed the first medal for his country in the 2024 Olympics.
According to SAEDNEWS, On Tuesday, Mirzazadeh triumphed over Azerbaijan's Sabah Shariati in the quarter-final round.
This marks the first medal for the Iranian team at the prominent sports event.
In another highlight, Cuba’s Mijaín López clinched the gold medal at the Olympics by defeating Yasmani Acosta of Chile with a score of 6-0. Earlier, Mirzazadeh secured a win against American opponent Adam Coon, finishing with a 3-0 score in the 130 kg category.
However, he faced a loss to his Cuban rival despite having previously defeated his South Korean opponent in earlier matches.
