SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to strengthen convergence with Georgia in light of evolving regional and international developments in the Caucasus, saying enhanced economic and diplomatic cooperation is essential to ensuring balanced stability in the region.
Addressing a farewell ceremony on Monday for Iran’s newly appointed ambassador to Georgia, Ali Moujani, Pezeshkian underscored the Caucasus’ strategic importance as a vital bridge connecting Asia and Europe.
He described the region as a historic cultural and economic crossroads with considerable potential to link regional and trans-regional economies, stressing that deeper engagement with Caucasus countries—particularly Georgia—should remain a priority in Iran’s foreign policy.
Pezeshkian highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the Iranian and Georgian peoples, calling them a shared heritage and a solid foundation for sustainable bilateral cooperation.
He reaffirmed that justice, human dignity, respect for national sovereignty, and territorial integrity are the core principles guiding Iran’s approach to the Caucasus.
The president also noted the region’s capacity to foster a complementary regional economy through collaboration in transit corridors, production, agriculture, energy, and technology, pointing out that such cooperation could yield balanced and mutual benefits.
He added that strengthening bilateral and multilateral dialogue would help establish lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
Emphasizing the importance of regional transport corridors, Pezeshkian called for joint cooperation and their non-exclusive use, arguing that this approach would enhance human security, social welfare, and overall regional stability.
Moujani, for his part, outlined his diplomatic priorities and pledged to leverage all available capacities to deepen friendly relations and elevate Iran’s role and presence in the Caucasus.
