SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Judiciary spokesman says Iran is pursuing the Israeli assassination of Hamas’s political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran through international legal channels.
According to SAEDNEWS, Iran’s Judiciary spokesman has confirmed that the country is pursuing legal action against Israel for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, which occurred in Tehran on July 31.
Asghar Jahangir stated on Tuesday that following the assassination by Israeli forces, the Judiciary immediately filed a lawsuit, outlining the gravity of the situation. He characterized the act as a “clear example of state terrorism” and emphasized that both domestic and international dimensions of the crime are being comprehensively investigated.
In response to this brazen act, Iran has vowed to deliver a “harsh response” to the Israeli regime. Jahangir clarified that the pursuit of justice through military means does not exclude the need for addressing the issue via appropriate legal channels at the international level.
He highlighted the active involvement of relevant authorities, particularly the Foreign Ministry and judiciary, in international efforts regarding this case. These efforts have already culminated in an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council earlier this month to discuss the matter. However, Jahangir expressed skepticism regarding the efficacy of the UNSC in resolving the issue.
The situation underscores Iran's strong commitment to holding accountable those responsible for the assassination and addressing what it views as a violation of its sovereignty.
