SAEDNEWS: Iran and Belarus emphasized their determination to cooperate closely in confronting unilateral and illegal sanctions, underlining their shared resolve to use international mechanisms to counter coercive measures.
At a joint press conference in Minsk on Monday with his Belarusian counterpart Maxim Ryzhenkov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi described relations between the two countries as moving along a very positive path.
“Since the beginning of Belarus’s independence, our ties have been warm, friendly, and based on mutual interests and respect,” Araqchi said, adding that both sides are committed to continuing along this course.
He noted that Iran and Belarus share common positions on international issues, cooperate in numerous global forums, and hold similar views on regional matters. Araqchi also expressed appreciation for Belarus’s condemnation of Israeli and US aggression against Iran, as well as for the Belarusian people’s solidarity with the Iranian nation.
The foreign minister emphasized that Iran prioritizes expanding relations with independent countries that seek constructive, mutually beneficial cooperation, and that Belarus holds a special place among these nations. He stressed that Tehran intends to leverage all existing capacities in both countries to advance their shared interests.
Araqchi highlighted that Iran and Belarus collaborate within the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, aiming to utilize these regional and international platforms to benefit both nations.
Addressing sanctions, he criticized the unjust, unilateral, and illegal measures imposed on both countries by Western states and noted their joint efforts in international organizations to counter such coercive actions.
Concluding the press conference, Araqchi said the two sides held highly productive talks and agreed on a one-year roadmap for bilateral cooperation, outlining steps to maximize existing capacities in economic relations and broader ties.
