Iran and Venezuela Foreign Ministers Discuss Developments in the Caribbean

SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto, during which the two sides discussed the state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on recent developments in the Caribbean region.

During a phone call, Iranian official Araghchi underscored the strong and wide-ranging relations between Iran and Venezuela, stressing the determination of the two countries’ leaders to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in line with their mutual interests.

He strongly condemned US actions affecting maritime security in the Caribbean, as well as threats of the use of force against Venezuela, describing them as a clear violation of fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Araghchi expressed Iran’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people and their elected government, emphasizing the responsibility of the international community to firmly oppose illegal and unilateral US measures, which he said pose an explicit threat to regional and global peace and stability.

For his part, Venezuela’s foreign minister thanked Iran for its principled stance and solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government in the face of what he described as illegal and unjust US threats and sanctions. He reaffirmed the determination of the Venezuelan government and nation to defend national sovereignty and independence against external pressure.
