SAEDNEWS: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly criticized Australia's move against the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), asserting that such actions will not undermine the IRGC’s influence in the region.
During Sunday’s parliamentary session, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf criticized Australia’s “anti-Iranian” stance, denouncing its decision to blacklist the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He highlighted that the IRGC stems from the Iranian people and has been central in combating terrorism across West Asia, stressing that “baseless accusations” cannot undermine its power and influence.
Ghalibaf also argued that Australia’s move aims to appease Israel and distract global attention from what he called “genocidal crimes in Gaza.”
Last week, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Australian government’s action, labeling it “a dangerous and criminal novelty.” In a Thursday statement, the ministry said:
“The Australian government’s politically motivated action, drawn under the influence of the Zionist regime, seeks to deflect public attention from the genocide in Gaza.”
The statement described the blacklisting as illegal, unjustifiable, and a violation of international law protecting national sovereignty. It also criticized some Australian politicians for supporting Israel’s “sinister policy” of spreading falsehoods about Iran, underlining Australia’s international responsibility for the unlawful act.
