SAEDNEWS: Aman dressed up in a bulletproof vest and helmet stabbed at least five people sitting on the patio of a cafe in front of a mosque in northwest Türkiye and live-broadcast the incident on his social media account on Monday.
According to SAEDNEWS, An 18-year-old suspect armed with a long knife live-streamed an attack at a mosque in Eskişehir, reportedly inspired by a video game. The incident unfolded on X before the assailant was swiftly apprehended by police, according to a report from Daily Sabah.
Thanks to the prompt response of security forces, the suspect was detained before he could inflict further harm on others in the vicinity. The Turkish Justice Minister, Yılmaz Tunç, announced that an investigation is currently underway regarding the incident.
The attacker, identified as A.K., was described as wearing attire reminiscent of a video game character, complete with an axe at his waist along with a bulletproof vest and helmet while his face was obscured by a mask. Eyewitness accounts from Eskişehir Durum highlighted that he also donned goggles over his mask, entirely concealing his identity.
Notably, the assailant did not vocalize any specific motivations for his actions during the attack, though reports suggest he may have been "influenced by war games." Minister Tunç extended wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident, reflecting the community's hope for healing in the aftermath of this troubling event.
