SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani expounded on the measures taken in the regional and international levels regarding the condemnation of the Zionist regime’s war crimes.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a recent interview, Iran's top diplomat, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, provided insights into the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This meeting followed the Israeli assassination of ex-Hamas Chief Martyr Ismail Haniyeh. He stated that one of the primary functions of diplomacy is to effectively utilize the country's resources to achieve foreign policy objectives. “Naturally, when such an event happened in Tehran, various capacities of the country had to be used to protect the interests of the country,” Bagheri Kani remarked.
He further emphasized that measures should have been implemented to legitimize Iran's response to the incident in accordance with international laws, including the United Nations Charter. “Iran has the right to reciprocate,” he added, underscoring the importance of adhering to legal frameworks in international relations.
Iranian ambassadors in various countries have also prioritized these objectives, engaging with host country authorities to discuss the implications of the situation.
Bagheri Kani highlighted the significance of the OIC meeting, stating, “This meeting was important in several aspects; First, the Islamic Republic of Iran was the initiator of holding this meeting, which was welcomed by the Islamic countries. Accordingly, the views and approaches put forward by the Islamic Republic of Iran were unanimously agreed upon by Islamic countries.”
He noted that the Islamic nations viewed the Zionist regime as responsible for the assassination and condemned the act unequivocally. In line with this sentiment, the OIC states expressed their support for Iran's right to respond, which was included in the final statement of the meeting.
