5.8-Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Alaska

The seismic event originated roughly 90 kilometers north of Yakutat, according to the agency’s report.
Preliminary data indicate that the quake struck at a shallow depth of about 5 kilometers beneath the surface — a factor that can amplify ground shaking.

So far, officials have not reported any injuries or structural damage.
The region had already been unsettled a day earlier, when a powerful magnitude-7.0 earthquake rattled the same area.
