According to SAEDNEWS: about 5,000 years ago, ancient Egypt was the first known culture where people exchanged "love rings," often made from woven reeds or leather. It is said that the Egyptians saw the ring, a circle, as a powerful symbol. It is believed that the Romans were the ones who associated the ring with marriage, usually with a ring depicting two hands clasped together representing love or agreement. These rings, in various styles, were popular in Europe for over a thousand years. They reappeared in 1100 AD and endured for centuries, continuing to be common to this day.
