SAEDNEWS: Official North Korean Media Announce Kim Jong Un Opens Massive “Kalma” Complex in Wonsan with Wife and Daughter
A report from Saed News’ tourism service reveals that the new project offers thousands of hotel beds, a water park, and a variety of accommodation and recreational facilities along the coast. With the capacity to host around 20,000 visitors, it is considered North Korea’s most spectacular seaside resort. The opening ceremony, held a few days ago on June 24, included the presence of the ruling family, a ribbon-cutting, and fireworks.
According to official announcements, the resort will be open to domestic tourists only starting July 1, 2025. Russian visitors are expected to arrive in groups shortly afterward, likely from July 7. It remains unclear when other international tourists will be allowed. Experts say the massive project is part of the leader’s effort to diversify the country’s economy and counter pressures from United Nations sanctions.
