SAEDNEWS: Keisuke Aisu Created the “Momo” Sculpture Inspired by a Japanese Folklore Legend
According to Saed News, citing Khabar Online, in Japanese folklore there are imaginary beings called yokai, each with its own story to tell. These tales sometimes inspire artistic creations, one of which is the frightening “Momo” sculpture.
Keisuke Aiso has created many works inspired by these legends, and “Momo” is one of them. It is based on a local story about the spirit of a pregnant woman who died while giving birth. Inspired by such stories, he created a sculpture with bird-like legs and a human head.
At the time of its exhibition, the sculpture did not attract much attention and occasionally frightened neighbors outside Aiso’s workshop. However, it later became a global phenomenon—bringing Aiso fame and turning the image of his sculpture into a widely recognized figure around the world.
