SAEDNEWS: Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said that the Al-Aqsa Storm operation shattered the Zionist regime’s claims of having built an impenetrable fortress and once again brought the Palestinian cause to the forefront of global attention.
According to Saednews, General Sharif, head of the Intifada (Palestinian uprising) and Quds Central Headquarters at Iran’s Islamic Propagation Coordination Council, made the remarks during a meeting of the central committee organizing events to commemorate the third anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation against Israel.
He said the Islamic Republic has consistently supported Palestine since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, describing the Palestinian cause as a major part of Iran’s political and social culture for nearly 48 years. According to Sharif, Iran’s approach has also helped strengthen ties among Muslims, including Shiites and Sunnis, as well as among those seeking the liberation of al-Quds.
Sharif said Iran has continued to support the Palestinian people through the developments and challenges of past decades on the basis of religious and Quranic principles, as well as national, humanitarian and emotional considerations. He described Iran as a model among Muslim countries in its support for Palestine.
He said the nature of Israel and the objectives of the regime and its main supporters have become increasingly clear to global public opinion. He added that intellectuals around the world now have a better understanding of the Palestinian cause and its various dimensions.
Discussing the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, Sharif said the Palestinian struggle against the Zionist regime has continued for more than 70 years. However, he noted that the operation came at a time when Israeli officials repeatedly claimed that the Palestinian issue had been resolved and that Israel had established a secure and supposedly invincible fortress that could not be challenged.
He said Israel had pointed to its previous wars with Arab countries as evidence of its military superiority. However, Al-Aqsa Storm demonstrated the continued vitality of the Palestinian cause and the strength of the resistance movement, while placing Israel under significant pressure.
Sharif described Al-Aqsa Storm as a major achievement and a turning point in the Palestinian struggle despite the heavy costs suffered by Hamas, the Islamic Jihad movement, other resistance groups and the people of Gaza.
He said the operation targeted around 50 Israeli settlements, with some being captured or coming under the control of resistance forces, while thousands of people were taken captive. According to Sharif, these developments showed that the image of power Israel had built over many years could be challenged and broken.
The Iranian official said Israel had established multiple security barriers and claimed that even the movement of a small creature across them could be detected. Al-Aqsa Storm, however, “shattered this myth” and demonstrated that such barriers could be breached when there is sufficient determination and motivation, he said.
Sharif also highlighted the participation of a new generation of Palestinians in the resistance, saying that the fourth generation of Palestinians is now actively involved in the struggle. He expressed optimism about Palestine’s future, saying recent developments are increasingly supporting predictions of Israel’s eventual defeat and the victory of the Palestinian people.
According to Sharif, the greatest achievement of Al-Aqsa Storm was once again placing the Palestinian cause at the center of global attention. He said Palestine and support for the Palestinian people are now being seriously discussed at universities and within academic, cultural and political circles around the world.
He said Israel had spent years attempting to marginalize the Palestinian issue through its media apparatus, but Al-Aqsa Storm brought the cause back to the forefront of international public opinion.
Sharif concluded by praising the Palestinian people for maintaining their resistance over the past three years. He said their perseverance had given renewed momentum to the resistance movement and to people around the world seeking freedom.
