Iran and Pakistan Hold Talks on Regional Developments

According to Saednews, Sadiq Khan, head of the Pakistani delegation, met with Mohammad Reza Bahrami on Sunday on the sidelines of the Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a day earlier that the fifth Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan is scheduled to take place on Monday under the hosting of the Russian Federation. Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs and its Ambassador to Kabul are expected to participate in the meeting.

Speaking about the upcoming Moscow meeting, Bahrami said that he held a constructive discussion with Sadiq Khan and the accompanying Pakistani delegation before the start of the Moscow Format session. The talks focused on current regional developments and issues concerning Afghanistan.

The Moscow Format is a regional diplomatic framework launched at Russia’s initiative in 2017 to facilitate consultations on developments in Afghanistan and efforts toward a peace process.

The meetings seek to strengthen coordination among regional countries and explore ways to promote stability, security, and lasting peace in Afghanistan. Participants include Iran, Russia, China, India, several Central Asian countries, and Afghanistan’s neighboring states.

The latest meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for regional representatives to exchange views on Afghanistan’s evolving situation and discuss possible approaches to regional cooperation and stability.
