According to Saednews, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of Iran’s National Security Commission, made the remarks on the sidelines of a memorial ceremony for the sister of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“We have firmly and steadfastly maintained control over the Strait of Hormuz, and this will remain the unchanged policy of the Islamic Republic. Trump always makes such statements; there is nothing new about them. We have become accustomed to Trump’s remarks and the abnormal rhetoric surrounding the American president’s language,” he said.

He added, “I do not think there is any reason for concern. As long as the Americans are focused on holding elections, they will, in principle, not enter a severe military and operational phase. But even if they do, our armed forces and our people are fully prepared.”

Regarding a U.S. proposal reportedly conveyed through Qatar, he said, “America’s proposal has been conveyed through Qatar. I am not informed about it. We have a meeting with the foreign minister this afternoon to learn more about it.”
