SAEDNEWS: The IRGC spokesman said Sunday that the U.S. economic blockade against Iran is imposing greater costs on Washington than on Tehran, stressing that the Iranian people will not yield to pressure or sanctions.
According to Saednews, Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), told Mehr News Agency that Washington had expected military power and its naval fleet to force Iran into submission, but recent developments had shown those assumptions to be unrealistic.
“A significant part of America’s power is based on demonstrating its military capabilities. They believed that simply deploying a naval fleet and aircraft carriers would force Iran to retreat. However, for every step they took forward, they were compelled to take several steps back,” Mohebbi said.
He added that the United States, despite presenting itself as the world’s leading military power, had faced serious limitations in dealing with Iran.
Mohebbi also pointed to America’s economic challenges, saying the United States was carrying substantial debt while simultaneously engaged in an economic confrontation with China and other countries. He questioned how Washington could expect to prevail in an economic conflict with Iran under such circumstances.
“From an economic perspective, the damage caused by these conditions to America could be several times greater than the damage inflicted on Iran. If the United States seeks to impose one dollar of economic damage on Iran, it may have to bear several dollars in costs and losses itself,” he said.
According to Mohebbi, regional developments were also affecting raw-material and energy markets, placing pressure on U.S. strategic reserves and creating difficulties in securing some essential raw materials.
He said regional disruptions had also affected aluminum production and exports, with part of the production capacity in several countries being removed from operation.
“The overall picture shows that imposing economic pressure and creating a blockade does not necessarily guarantee victory for the side imposing sanctions. On the contrary, such measures can impose significant costs on the country applying them,” Mohebbi said.
