Saed News: A United Nations official warned that if the transit of fertilizer through the Strait of Hormuz is not soon allowed, tens of millions of people will face famine.
According to SAEDNEWS, Jorge Moreira da Silva, the Executive Director of the “United Nations Advisory Office,” said in an interview with AFP on Monday: “We only have a few weeks to prevent a crisis that could become the largest humanitarian crisis.”
Quoting IRNA, the executive director of a UN-affiliated body warned that if the passage of fertilizer through the Strait of Hormuz is not soon allowed, tens of millions of people will face famine.
He added: “We may witness a crisis that will push another 45 million people into hunger.”
Da Silva also expressed hope that “lasting peace” would be established in the Middle East and that “free movement of all goods” through the Strait of Hormuz would resume.
