Iranian, Omani Foreign Ministers Meet in Geneva as Third Round of Iran‑U.S. Talks Begins

SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met in Geneva on Wednesday night as the third round of indirect Iran-US nuclear talks got underway in the Swiss city.

Araqchi, who has traveled to Geneva to participate in the latest round of negotiations, discussed Iran’s positions on nuclear issues and the lifting of sanctions with the Omani foreign minister.

Iran’s viewpoints and considerations were conveyed during the ministerial meeting.

Appreciating Oman’s efforts to help advance the ongoing diplomatic process, Araqchi stressed that the success of the negotiations depends on the seriousness of the other side and its avoidance of contradictory behavior and positions.

For his part, the Omani foreign minister praised Iran’s steadfastness in pursuing a diplomatic approach to the nuclear issue and emphasized Muscat’s readiness to continue its good offices and provide any assistance along this path.

Al Busaidi also expressed hope that, through the mutual seriousness of the parties, the talks would lead to a result satisfactory to both sides.

The indirect Iran-US negotiations are scheduled to continue on Thursday with the participation of the two countries’ delegations.

Iran and the US have held two rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations in recent weeks, mediated by Oman.
