Putin’s Aide: Ukraine Is Obstructing the Implementation of the Agreements Reached in Anchorage

According to SAEDNEWS, citing Sputnik, Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian President, said on Sunday that Moscow is directly and indirectly raising all its concerns regarding the Ukraine conflict and the role of the United States in it with Washington.

He added that this includes the U.S. role in providing military and technological assistance to Ukraine.

Ushakov further stated that Ukraine’s response is preventing the United States from implementing the understandings reached at the Russia–U.S. meeting in Alaska (known as the Anchorage meeting).

Trump met with President Putin at a summit in Anchorage, Alaska, on April 17 last year, describing the meeting as “very constructive” and saying that “progress” had been achieved in the talks.

The White House also hosted Ukrainian President Zelensky along with European leaders on April 20 to discuss security guarantees and a “possible land swap deal.”

Trump had previously expressed frustration over Zelensky’s unwillingness to reach an agreement to end the conflict, saying: “Tell Zelensky to make a deal, because Putin is ready… it is very difficult to deal with Zelensky.”

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated Russia’s readiness for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, and Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that the dynamics on the battlefield are “positive for us,” meaning that Russian offensive operations aim to impose a peaceful resolution.
