According to SAEDNEWS, citing RIA Novosti, South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back said that Seoul will continue to deepen and expand cooperation with Washington in containing Pyongyang.
He emphasized that South Korea will work to simultaneously strengthen its alliance with the United States and its national defense capabilities.
Relations between the two Koreas have been tense in recent years due to the involvement of external powers in the Korean Peninsula.
Under the pressure of threats from the United States and South Korea, North Korea has sought to shift the balance in its favor by drawing closer to Eastern powers, including China and Russia.
