According to SAEDNEWS, quoting Vaghte Sobh, the incident involving the young couple from West Bengal is very disturbing. The couple were so obsessed with Apple’s latest phone that they sold their infant to purchase it.
The couple attracted the attention of their neighbors in India when they began traveling across Bengal showing off their new iPhone 14.
The couple were known for having a low monthly income and often struggling financially. Therefore, this sudden change in their financial situation did not seem normal, especially as it coincided with the mysterious disappearance of their 8-month-old son.
However, the couple did not appear concerned about the disappearance of their baby.
Neighbors reported the matter to local authorities after they could not receive a clear answer about the sudden disappearance of the infant.
During the police investigation, the mother of the baby confessed that she sold her 8-month-old son to a woman in order to buy an iPhone 14, use social media, and travel.
The young couple allegedly also tried to sell their 7-year-old daughter but were unsuccessful. Eventually, the parents were charged with human trafficking.
