This lake is located 30 kilometers from the city of Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, near Sisangan Forest Park.
Avideh Lake was formed as a result of constructing an earthen dam in this forested area. Its proximity to the Caspian Sea coastal road and neighboring villages like Malakla and Salah al-Din Kala has made it a popular tourist destination. Many travelers refer to Avideh as the "Heart of Mazandaran" — a province that proudly showcases a diverse range of climates and landscapes. The Avideh Dam is an earthen dam, and the lake’s water was originally intended for agricultural irrigation in the region. The lake is home to various aquatic species, with carp being the most well-known. Other creatures such as fish, snakes, frogs, and amphibians also live here.
A 5-kilometer road branches off from the main coastal road near Sisangan and leads to Avideh Dam. If you're coming from Nowshahr, head toward Noor. About 10 kilometers after passing Sisangan Forest Park, you’ll approach the village of Salah al-Din Kala. Along the way, you’ll see a sign pointing to the earthen dam. Follow this route, passing through the villages of Salah al-Din Kala and Malakla, until you reach your final destination — Avideh Lake.
Weather is one of the most important factors when choosing a travel destination. Thanks to its low humidity, Avideh has a cool and pleasant climate throughout the year. While spring and summer are the most popular seasons for tourists, autumn also offers a stunning scene, with rain, cool weather, and red and orange foliage creating breathtaking views. Gentle breezes create ripples across the lake’s surface, adding to the peaceful ambiance.
Roughly 10 kilometers past Sisangan Forest Park, a sign will direct you to the Avideh Tourist Village near Salah al-Din Kala. As you reach the lake, the scenery of forested mountains and their reflection in the lake offers a truly dreamlike sight.

Pedal boats are also available for a relaxing ride on the lake. Horseback riding, a children's amusement area, and water sports are additional attractions available in the area.
Avideh Lake is located in the rural district of Salah al-Din Kala, part of the central district of Nowshahr. The village’s original name, Sarin Kala, means "a place on high ground." Due to its proximity to Sisangan Forest and the lake, the village enjoys a cool and pleasant climate. Despite ongoing villa construction in the area, the village’s traditional architecture has been largely preserved. Renting villas is a common lodging option here.
Sisangan Forest Park was created not just for tourism but also to preserve the area’s plant and animal life. Its forested and coastal sections host a variety of protected species. The southern part of the park features rare boxwood trees.
In the coastal area, you’ll find trees like alder, oak, hornbeam, fig, hackberry, pomegranate, medlar, hawthorn, wild cherry, and mulberry. Wildlife includes deer, red deer, brown bears, leopards, foxes, wild cats, boars, and jackals. Facilities in the park include restrooms, children’s playgrounds, horseback riding tracks, restaurants, jet skis, pavilions, shops, and forest-view lodges.
