Introduction to the Beautiful Features and Attractions of Sustan Wetland

In a corner of Gilan province, there is a small paradise that attracts many tourists with its unique natural beauty. One of the beautiful natural areas of Gilan, named Sustan Wetland, located in Lahijan city, is known for its captivating and commendable nature.

Sustan is a village in the Lail district of Lahijan County, famous for the wetland near it.

The village is 11 kilometers from the center of the district, Satal Sar, 0.5 kilometers from Lahijan city, and 45.5 kilometers from Rasht city.

Sustan Wetland is a freshwater wetland, which is abundant in water during the fall and winter seasons, and the water level decreases in summer. The entire wetland is surrounded by reeds, and there are swamp plants and forest trees inside and along the edges of the wetland. Like other freshwater wetlands, it is home to aquatic animals and birds.

When you immerse yourself in the peaceful quiet of this wetland, you will see lotus flowers winding around each other in one corner of the wetland. They have grown and reached toward the sky. However, if you view this extraordinary sight from another angle, you will notice that although each lotus has managed to free itself from the earth and rise, it bends back toward other lotuses that couldn't stand up, wrapping around them and starting the journey upward once again. Seeing this divine scene of how the lotus moves from the swamp to the sky adds a spiritual dimension to this wetland.

Flora and Fauna of the Wetland
The freshwater and favorable climate make this region a suitable place for growing specific plant species and supporting the lives of birds and aquatic creatures. Sustan Wetland is home to a species of swamp plants called water lilies. The presence of these beautiful pink water lilies on the surface of the wetland creates an unparalleled and breathtaking view.

The trees growing around the wetland include species like poplar, willow, and alder. Most of the trees in the area are poplars. The native reed plant is also found in parts of the wetland. During autumn, Sustan Wetland hosts migrating birds such as the coot and duck.

Fishing and Recreation
The pristine and exceptional nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, has made this area a popular destination for tourists. Visitors can set up tents and rest in the area surrounding the wetland. This has led locals from Gilan, especially from Lahijan, to choose this location for recreation and relaxation on weekends and holidays, experiencing memorable days surrounded by the beautiful nature with family and friends.
