Saednews: Iran is one of the countries that contains numerous lakes, along with fascinating beauties and wonders that are definitely worth visiting. Here are 4 of the most beautiful lakes in Iran.
According to the tourism service of Saednews, Iran's lakes are beautiful and vibrant pieces of nature scattered across the country, formed by the gathering of rainwater, snow, and the flow of springs. These lakes provide a suitable environment for plant growth and serve as habitats for animals and birds. In fact, each lake is a picturesque sight in nature and a unique destination for nature tourism and sightseeing.
Maharloo Lake or the Pink Lake: This saltwater lake, located 27 kilometers from Shiraz, stands out from other Iranian lakes due to its unique pink color. The lake turns pink because of specific algae and high potassium content combined with its salty nature. It is home to a variety of birds such as ducks, storks, flamingos, and pelicans, as well as various species of turtles, lizards, and snakes.
Chourt Lake: This beautiful lake is located 10 kilometers from the village of Chourt and 71 kilometers from Sari. The lake was formed after an earthquake in 1318 blocked the flow of a spring in the area. During spring and summer, when water levels are lower, the trees that once grew in this area are visible, standing above the water to create a stunning view. Activities like fishing and boating are popular here, but swimming is not allowed.
Elandan Lake: The only water sources for this lake are rainfall and snow. The unique soil surrounding the lake ensures that rainwater and snowmelt funnel into the lake, creating a high retention of water. The area is rich in vegetation, with species like violets, olive shrubs, and hawthorn trees growing around the lake.
Gohar Lake: Located 35 kilometers from Dorud, Lorestan, Gohar Lake is known as the "pearl of Zagros." The lake is divided into two sections, upper and lower Gohar, which are only 100 meters apart. The crystal-clear waters allow you to see the lakebed and fish swimming. The surrounding area is rich in oak, almond, and wild pistachio trees, as well as beautiful flowers like poppies and lilies.
Salt Lake:
Located 62 kilometers east of Qom, Salt Lake covers an area of approximately 1,800 square kilometers, with only 1 square kilometer covered by water. Visitors can experience walking on thick salt layers to reach the water. Despite not supporting any living organisms, the lake is unique, rich in minerals, and is a significant source of lithium.
The size of the lake fluctuates with seasonal rainfall, expanding during the rainy season and shrinking in the hot months.
