Nestled in the mountains, the entrance of Darband Cave sits at an altitude of 1.35 meters, with a width of 2.75 meters. Visitors entering the cave pass through a 24-meter-long corridor, 3 meters wide, leading into a stunning interior. The main chamber is oval-shaped, measuring 91 meters in length and 36 meters in width, with a maximum height of 20 meters. Inside, breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites create a natural spectacle, including the tallest stalagmite column, which rises 12 meters with an average radius of 2.85 meters.

Darband Cave is not only a geological marvel but also a historical treasure. The oldest relics date back to the 5th century AH, with the most notable being a gold coin engraved in Kufic script from the late Seljuk era or the early Mongol period. Additionally, visitors can find glazed bowls from Mazandaran and exquisite earthenware from Gorgan, reflecting the rich cultural history of the region.

Another cave has been discovered northwest of Damqan, just 5 km from Ali Spring near Geev Tangeh, highlighting the region’s rich network of natural formations. For those planning a visit, Darband Cave is especially inviting during the warmer months, offering a cool retreat from the heat. On average, the cave’s interior remains 10 degrees cooler than the outside, providing a refreshing experience amid its dramatic geological and historical features.
