SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said after returning home from the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) that it was the European powers who brought the talks on the snapback mechanism to a failure.
Upon returning from his trip to New York on Saturday, President Pezeshkian was warmly welcomed by Head of the Supreme Leader's Office, Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, alongside Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah and several senior officials.
The president described the trip as a vital platform to communicate the clear positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the world stage, particularly regarding the urgent need to confront the actions of the Israeli regime.
During a press conference in Tehran, Pezeshkian condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 65,000 innocent lives have been lost, and countless others are deprived of basic necessities such as water, food, and medicine. He criticized the contradiction of claiming to defend human rights while obstructing humanitarian aid, calling it a clear act of international deception.
Pezeshkian highlighted that the ongoing situation in Gaza threatens regional stability and security, noting that the United Nations Security Council has yet to act against the Israeli regime—illustrating how global power structures can impede justice.
The president also shared insights from meetings with European leaders from France, Norway, Finland, and Switzerland. While many officials expressed opposition to Israeli actions, he emphasized the lack of tangible measures to counter these actions. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the growing public protests in Europe against governments that support the Israeli regime.
On the topic of nuclear cooperation, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to work with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and clarify its nuclear activities. He criticized the US for continually introducing obstacles to agreements, asserting that the nation seeks to weaken Iran due to its growing strength.
President Pezeshkian also highlighted interactions with Iranian expatriates, praising their commitment to contributing to Iran’s development. Expressing confidence in the country’s abundant resources and skilled workforce, he affirmed that Iran will overcome challenges despite external pressures.
In closing, Pezeshkian conveyed hope that, guided by divine wisdom, Iran will continue its path of progress and dignity, strengthening its position both domestically and internationally.
