The Impact of Football on Reducing Blood Pressure

Human life is increasingly moving towards mechanization, inactivity, and lack of movement, leading to many problems for the human body, especially the cardiovascular system. One of these problems is high blood pressure. Danish researchers discovered that playing football can be as effective as taking medication in reducing blood pressure in women. Studies by researchers from the University of Southern Denmark have shown that one hour of football practice two to three times a week can lower blood pressure. In addition to this benefit, football training also reduces body fat percentage and increases bone density. One study indicates that playing football recreationally helps lower the blood pressure of women aged 35 to 50. This study, conducted in collaboration with researchers from the University of Exeter in the UK and three other countries, showed that women aged 35 to 50 benefit significantly in terms of fitness and blood pressure reduction from playing football.

Professor Peter Krastrop from the University of Exeter, who collaborated on this study, stated: "Football exercise reduces high blood pressure, and the benefits of football are twice as much as swimming over the same period." He added that he has been researching the effects of football and other recreational sports for 10 years. This is the first research to demonstrate the benefits of football in combating high blood pressure. The study revealed that playing football for one hour, three times a week, over 15 weeks not only reduced blood pressure but also helped women lose weight, with an average weight loss of 2.3 kg.

Football also reduces body fat and strengthens bones. This is the first study addressing the impact of football on women's health. Research has shown that playing football for one hour can lead to a relative reduction in blood pressure in women aged 35 to 50. If these individuals play football two to three times a week for a year, they may no longer need blood pressure medication. The lead researcher of this study stated: "Our studies have shown that women who do not exercise and have high blood pressure experience a significant reduction in blood pressure after football training. Football can be as effective as medication in reducing blood pressure in women." Previous studies have also shown that playing football can prevent certain diseases, such as heart diseases.

For football, individuals need to engage in high-intensity and strength-based exercises. One of the researchers added: "We are currently working to reduce cardiovascular diseases and related deaths. A quarter of deaths in Denmark are due to such diseases. High blood pressure is one of the dangerous risk factors."
