SAEDNEWS: Russia believes that the veto power in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) must be preserved, according to Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organizations Kirill Logvinov,

A top Russian diplomat emphasized that any attempts to alter the rights of permanent UNSC members—or extend them to future members—are firmly opposed. According to TASS, he stressed that the veto is not a tool for pressure, but a crucial mechanism to ensure fair, balanced decisions within the Council.

He added that the veto prevents unilateral actions, fosters compromise, and blocks moves that would be “categorically unacceptable” to other members, highlighting its role in maintaining international diplomatic stability.
