SAEDNEWS: Jessie Cave, known for playing Lavender Brown in Harry Potter, says she was banned from a fan convention because of her OnlyFans account, sparking debate over fandom, sexuality, and artistic freedom.

HARRY POTTER STAR BANNED: Jessie Cave Barred From Convention Over OnlyFans Controversy

According to Saed News; Jessie Cave, who brought the character Lavender Brown to life across three Harry Potter films, recently revealed that her OnlyFans activity led to her being excluded from a fan convention.

On her Substack, Cave wrote, “I found out that I didn’t get booked for a ‘Harry Potter’ convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’ This was baffling to me as some actors who do conventions have done TV and films in which they’ve performed sex scenes and nudity.”

A Career in the Wizarding World

Cave first appeared as Lavender Brown in 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and reprised the role in both Deathly Hallows films. She also has credits in Great Expectations and TV series like Black Mirror and Industry. Despite being “canceled” from a convention, Cave says she has had her time in the Wizarding World and is ready to let a new generation carry on.

OnlyFans and Artistic Freedom

Jessie Cave launched her OnlyFans page in March, describing it as “not a sexual one” and focused on hair sounds and sensual content for niche audiences. On her podcast Before We Break Up Again, she emphasized that fetish content does not necessarily mean sexual. Cave’s goal with OnlyFans is multifaceted: financial independence, self-empowerment, and personal growth.

“I’ll try for one year. My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof… To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love,” she explained.

Fan Culture and Controversy

The incident raises questions about fan culture, artistic freedom, and the boundaries of family-friendly branding. While conventions have often hosted actors who participated in films and TV with adult content, OnlyFans—associated publicly with pornography—seems to trigger stricter rules. Cave’s experience highlights ongoing tensions between creators’ personal projects and fandom expectations.
