SAEDNEWS: Grab snacks and tissues — this week’s Screen Time lineup hands you two pulse-pounding films and one utterly bingeable show, plus the internet’s hottest reactions to The Summer I Turned Pretty and a nostalgic curtain call for Downton Abbey.
This week in Screen Time, I’m breaking down why the new season of Only Murders in the Building already feels like a standout, along with a teary farewell to Downton Abbey. I’ll also share the clips and reactions filling my FYP — including the response to The Summer I Turned Pretty Episode 10. Plus: I want to know which classic Hollywood actor gave your favorite pre-1975 performance. Let’s dive in!
Only Murders in the Building — watch for: Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin’s incredible chemistry
Streaming weekly on Hulu
Three episodes dropped this week, and I’m already convinced this season of Only Murders in the Building is among the series’ best. The trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are firing on all cylinders — their timing as a comedy-mystery team feels sharper than ever, and Gomez steps up to match the legends in every scene.
This season opens after the death of the Arconia’s beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), and throws Charles, Oliver, and Mabel into another tangled investigation involving billionaires, old-school mob players, and fellow residents of the Arconia. The guest stars are bonkers-good this time around too — Téa Leoni, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz and Renée Zellweger pop in for major moments. Is it unrealistic how much murder happens inside a single apartment block? Absolutely. Do I care? Not for a second.
The Long Walk — watch for: Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson’s performances
In theaters now
Directed by Francis Lawrence (think his Hunger Games entries), The Long Walk is a savage, edge-of-your-seat Stephen King adaptation that doesn’t pull punches. Set in a dystopian America, it follows a yearly contest where competitors must keep walking at a minimum speed or face execution — yes, it’s that merciless.
The cast is stacked with breakout talent, and Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson deliver standout turns. If you want a film that’ll keep you guessing and tense from start to finish, this one’s a top pick.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale — watch for: a warm, heartfelt return to the Crawleys
In theaters now
After 15 years, the Downton Abbey saga wraps with The Grand Finale. The movie follows the Crawleys and their staff as the 1930s arrive: Mary is at the center of a divorce scandal, the estate faces financial strain, and everyone must adapt as a new generation edges into leadership. It’s a proper, comforting return to the house — the theme music alone feels like coming home.
Personally, Downton has been a part of my life since I watched the first episode with my mom in 2010. This final film is a love letter to the series: the cast, the legacy, the music — it made me tear up more than once.
What’s trending on my FYP: reactions to The Summer I Turned Pretty Episode 10
This week’s penultimate episode found Belly in Paris — bittersweet and beautifully shot. While it didn’t feel as filler-y as last week, I’m definitely missing Cousins Beach and Belly/Conrad moments. Conrad finally wrote Belly her first letter and booked a flight to Paris, which set the fandom ablaze. (BONRAD energy is rising!)
Also: Conrad and Jeremiah finally patched things up, which saved my sanity. Jeremiah remains… Jeremiah — annoying but necessary drama.
Here are some of the best reactions to Episode 10 — memes, hot takes, and everything in between — straight from the timeline.
Reader poll: What classic actor gave your favorite pre-1975 performance?
For me, it’s Jack Lemmon in The Apartment — comedic, mournful and perfectly sincere opposite Shirley MacLaine. Also, I finally watched Roman Holiday — Audrey Hepburn as Princess Ann is everything. Captivating, delightful, and devastating in the best way. Tell me yours.
