Saed News: The Noor Sea Diamond is one of the largest and most famous pink diamonds in the world. It was transferred from India to Iran and is now kept in the treasury of Iran’s national jewels.
According to the History Service of Saed News, the "Noor Sea" diamond is one of the largest and most beautiful pink diamonds in the world, renowned globally. This diamond weighs about 182 carats and has a pale, transparent pink color that makes it very unique.
This precious gem was discovered in the diamond mines of the Golconda region in India — the same area where the famous "Koh-i-Noor" diamond was also extracted. Historical sources indicate that the Noor Sea diamond was originally in the possession of the Mughal rulers of India.
In 1739, after his campaign in India, Nader Shah Afshar brought this diamond along with the Koh-i-Noor diamond and other royal jewels to Iran. After Nader Shah’s death, the diamond was passed among various Iranian dynasties such as the Afsharids, Zands, and Qajars.
During the Qajar era, especially under Naser al-Din Shah, this precious diamond received special attention. Naser al-Din Shah engraved his name on the back of the diamond and wore it on his crown or royal garments, reflecting the special importance of the Noor Sea in Iran’s royal jewels.
Today, the Noor Sea diamond is kept in the treasury of Iran’s national jewels, located under the supervision of Iran’s Central Bank in Tehran. This gem is considered one of the country’s most important and valuable national treasures.
