SAEDNEWS: The technology of colorizing black-and-white photos, now easily accessible through various software, offers the possibility of bringing the past closer to the present. With this technique, photos taken more than a hundred years ago can sometimes astonishingly resemble freshly captured images.

Qajar Women and the Technology of Colorized Photos: Did Women of the Qajar Era Resemble the Characters in the Series ‘Jeyran’?

According to the Historical Service of Saed News, here are a selection of photographs taken by Antoine Sarougin (known as Antoine Khan) during the Qajar era, capturing women from various social classes. Among them are images of women from the Naser al-Din Shah’s harem as well as ordinary women. The high quality of these photographs, sourced from various archives, has made it possible to transform them into vivid, colorized images.

Through the lens of these colorized frames, we gain a fresh perspective on the faces, attire, and daily lives of Iranian women of that era.
