According to Saed News, the newly published images offer a rare glimpse into the personal side of General Salami, a man largely known to the public for his commanding presence in Iran’s military hierarchy. The late commander served as head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from April 10, 2019, until his martyrdom on June 13, 2025, during the opening salvo of the Israeli regime’s 12-day war on Iran.

Born in 1960 in Golpayegan, Isfahan Province, Salami joined the IRGC at the onset of the Iran–Iraq war, where he held numerous field command and military training roles. Academically, he held degrees in mechanical engineering, defense management, and a PhD in national defense strategy.

The release of these personal photographs—showing Salami clad in the number 12 jersey of Iran’s national football team—has resonated deeply within Iranian media and among his supporters, adding a human layer to the legacy of a figure typically viewed through the lens of military discipline and strategic command.
