SAEDNEWS: Iran’s sole Jewish MP has vehemently rejected reports of espionage arrests within his community, clarifying that those detained were merely celebrating private family events without permits.
According to Saed News, quoting the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s official website, Homayoun Sameyah Najafabadi—the representative of Iran’s Jewish minority—asserted on Tuesday that recent allegations of spy arrests among Iranian Jews are “completely false and baseless.” Responding to hostile foreign outlets, he emphasized that the handful of individuals apprehended were held solely for organizing unauthorized family gatherings, not espionage, and are now on the verge of release.
Najafabadi reminded listeners that since the 1979 Revolution “not a single member of the Jewish community has ever been arrested on espionage charges,” and underscored the group’s steadfast loyalty to the Islamic Republic. As a member of the Parliament’s Health and Treatment Commission, he praised his community as “the most cooperative and trouble‑free minority,” noting that Judaism itself mandates respect for the laws and sovereignty of one’s host nation.
Highlighting communal sacrifices, Najafabadi pointed out that several Iranian Jews were among the martyrs of the recent 12‑day conflict, demonstrating solidarity in the face of external aggression. He urged citizens to remain vigilant against “malicious rumours” spread by adversarial media and to “pay them no heed.”
By invoking both legal protocol and wartime unity, the Jewish MP sought to reassure the public and defuse sectarian tensions, while warning that disinformation campaigns only serve to fracture national cohesion.
