SAEDNEWS: Iranian authorities have denied allegations circulated by Israeli media suggesting that the head of Evin Prison fled the facility ahead of a recent deadly assault, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.
According to Saed News, the Public Relations Office of Tehran’s Provincial Prisons Department has dismissed as “false and absurd” reports by Israeli-affiliated media that the warden of Evin Prison left the premises shortly before a violent attack on inmates last week.
The denial comes as speculation continues to swirl in the wake of the June 23 assault, which left multiple casualties and raised serious concerns about security failures at one of Iran’s most notorious detention facilities. According to state-linked outlet Fararu, the latest rumor alleges that the prison director received advance notice via a WhatsApp message to his son, prompting his early departure before the incident unfolded.
“The Zionist regime’s media arms have manufactured a string of fabricated narratives since the day of the tragedy,” the Tehran prison authority said in a statement. “Their most recent claim—that the warden left the facility prior to the attack after receiving word from his son—is categorically false. The prison chief was present inside Evin when the incident occurred.”
This rebuttal marks the latest in a series of official responses aimed at countering what Iranian officials have described as “disinformation campaigns” orchestrated abroad to undermine the state’s credibility during a moment of crisis. With six days having passed since the incident, pressure is mounting on authorities to provide a transparent account of what transpired and whether the attack could have been prevented.
