SAEDNEWS: The American newspaper The Washington Post reported that following U.S. pressures and threats, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro sent a letter to his Russian counterpart, asking him to assist the country’s armed forces in defending against a possible U.S. aggression.
According to Sadeh News’ political service, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has sent a letter to his Russian counterpart, requesting assistance for the country’s armed forces to defend against a potential U.S. incursion. Maduro has also sent similar letters to Iran and China, seeking support from both nations.
The U.S. newspaper The Washington Post reported that following pressure and threats from Washington, Maduro reached out to Russia, urging the Kremlin to help Venezuela prepare for a possible American attack.
Documents indicate that in his letter, Maduro requested missiles, radar systems, and upgraded aircraft from Russia, while American forces have reportedly been gathering in the Caribbean.
Maduro also asked President Putin to assist Caracas in keeping Russian military equipment and weaponry operational.
According to The Washington Post, Maduro’s letters to Iran and China contain similar requests for assistance. The American media outlet claimed that a Venezuelan minister recently coordinated the shipment of military equipment and drones from Iran. Venezuelan officials reportedly requested “passive detection radar systems,” “GPS jammers,” and “drones with a range of 1,000 kilometers.”
It remains unclear how China and Iran have responded to Venezuela’s requests.
